Im Jahr 2018/2019 fuhren mein Mann, unser Hund Johnny und ich mit einem ausrangiertem Postbus T5 durch Nordamerika. Keine fünf Quadratmeter für Schlaf-, Wohn- und Badezimmer. Inklusive Küche. Für wie lange? Fast ein Jahr? Verrückt. Unvorstellbar für unsere Familie, unsere Freunde und die Amerikaner sowieso.
Wir erlebten Nordamerika von einer ganz anderen Seite. Fernab der Weltpolitik. Und ich schrieb begleitend einen Reiseblog. Er handelt von den Menschen, die nicht in der Presse vorkommen. Von ihren Sorgen und Ängsten. Von Tiere, die bei uns längst ausgerottet sind und einer Natur, die es in Europa nicht gibt.
Die Resonanz war überwältigend. Macht doch etwas daraus, hieß von unseren Lesern. Oder konkret: Das könnte ein gutes Buch werden.
Der Reisebuchverlag war dergleichen Meinung. Aber ein Reiseblog ist kein Buch. Wo die Bilder fehlen muss die Sprache her. Das ist nicht so einfach. Selbst für mich nicht. Ende Juli 2020 gebe ich das Manuskript ab, dann wird der Titel festgelegt. Im Herbst soll es bereits bei Amazon, Thalia und Co. zu bestellen sein. Freut euch. Es wird spannend. Lustig. Nachdenklich. Anders.
